The key to successful weight loss is making changes in your eating and physical activity habits that you can keep up for the rest of your life.

Your body weight is controlled by the number of calories you eat and the number of calories you use each day. To lose weight you need to take in fewer calories than you use. You can do this by creating and following a plan for healthy eating.

Exercise

Start out by taking a brisk walks or riding a bike. Work your way up from 10 minutes to 30-40 minutes a day, most days a week, and you could reap health benefits and weight loss results in a matter of weeks. Plus, exercise boosts your metabolism, making it even easier to lose weight.

Non-clinical program

A non-clinical program may follow a program on your own by using a counselor, book, website, or weight-loss product. You can also join others in a support group, work site program, or community-based program. Non-clinical weight-loss programs usually requires you to use the program’s foods or supplements.

Clinical program

A clinical program provides services in a health care setting, such as a hospital or clinic. One or more licensed health professionals, such as medical doctors, nurses, registered dietitians, and/or psychologists, provide care. Clinical programs may offer services such as nutrition education, physical activity, and behavior change therapy. Some programs offer prescription weight-loss drugs and pills or gastrointestinal surgery.

Tax attorneys in simple are lawyers who specializes in working with taxpayers to solve their problems with the Internal Revenue Service or state revenue department. In actual fact, they more often focus only on tax issues and relief. A tax attorney can assist a taxpayer in difficulty make it through an audit, have fines bargained, liens removed, and can navigate through the minefield of small business and self-employment tax issues.

A lot of small business owners usually would consider their tax attorney to be as important as their accountant. This is because a good tax attorney can help and advise head off tax problems before they even start. They can see the possible trouble spots for a business and can advise the owner how to avoid them. A good tax attorney will keep up with the latest changes and can advise clients accordingly. A tax attorney may also be helpful when setting up trust funds and stock portfolios.

Looking for a Tax Attorney

When you need a tax attorney, you should not be calling the first one you see listed in the phone book. One should look around and ask friends or business associates to recommend a good tax specialist. As a potential client, you, the taxpayer should probably look for a qualified and skilled tax attorney with extensive experience in dealing with the IRS, skilled in debt management cases, and definitely have had experiences working with real live taxpayers. A client should also make sure he or she knows what his attorney’s rates and charges are in order to make arrangements for payment early on in the consultation process and if the charges are within your budget.

Again said, hopefully you will never need the services of a tax attorney. But it is sometimes advisable to look to a tax attorney to have him or her look into your files and have him recommend or advise. But if you do happen to need the services of a tax attorney, be sure you spend some time interviewing and analyzing different attorneys in order to find one that is suitable and can address your needs and with whom you feel comfortable with.

Audits

Audit is one of the most obvious reasons for hiring a tax attorney. If you find yourself subjected to an audit, it means the IRS has noticed a problem with your tax return. Whether you prepared your taxes yourself or hired someone to do it for you, now is the time to hire an attorney. A tax attorney can help you navigate the audit process and can advocate on your behalf.

While the Internal Revenue Service would like you to believe that tax laws are in black and white, they really are not. All tax attorneys know this and can ensure that those various shades of gray work on your behalf by using loopholes and updated knowledge of tax laws that a normal taxpayer would not have known or missed. A tax attorney will also tract any correspondence and calls from the IRS, which can help you save up a lot of your time and also be stress free. Many people do not like the IRS agents as they are intimidating and their use of strong language and tax terms do scare taxpayers into giving them everything they ask without any hesitation.

This is where tax attorneys come in as they are not intimidated by the auditors and is able to talk to the auditor on your behalf.

Back Taxes

People who try to work with the IRS alone without the help of attorney usually end up paying a larger fraction of the taxes they owe than do people who get the help of a tax attorney. Because the information you provide to your attorney is privileged, you can confide in your attorney about exactly why you did not pay taxes in the first place. With that information, the attorney can work to get you the best possible outcome.

3. If you own your own business, a tax attorney can help ensure that you set up your assets in accordance with tax laws. This means that you can potentially save thousands of dollars in deductions and can help you rest easy knowing that you’re doing everything by the book.

If you find yourself in one of the said above three categories, you should enlist the services of a tax attorney right away. There is no way to overestimate the help they can provide and the good that they can do on your behalf. Whether they simply answer a few phone calls for you and respond to a few letters or actually defend you in court, the services they provide can save you a lot of money, headache and heartache.

Audits and back taxes are not the end of the world, but they sure seem like it when you find yourself in the middle of one of these sticky situations. They can be overwhelming and cause you to feel like the whole world suddenly has access to the details of your life but a tax attorney can justify that awful feeling for you, and you’ll just feel more at ease when you realize that you have a professional advocating for you. And even if you haven’t had any IRS trouble, do consider consulting with a tax attorney anyway just to make sure you avoid any potential trouble in the future and for any present advice on accounts. The cost of using a tax attorney is minimal compared to the cost that you might accrue by representing yourself in front of the IRS.

A drug rehab center is for people who is in need of psychotherapeutic treatment for the dependency on substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs and other generic drugs. A drug rehab center is for patients or addicts to cease their substance abuse.

Selecting a drug rehab center is one of the most important and difficult decisions you will make in your lifetime. Few of us know what to look for in a quality rehab program and not all drug rehabilitation centers are alike. Each drug rehab has its own program options, staff qualifications, credentials, cost, and effectiveness. Asking appropriate questions when you call a drug rehab for information is important and you should expect to receive clear answers. So it is vital that before you make any decisions-ask questions and get the facts.

Not all drug addicts are addicted to the same drugs. These addictive potency of drugs varies from substance to substance and also from individual to another. There are also the alcoholics in which the rehabs have different programmes so it is important to know which drugs the addict is taking.

Drug rehab offer a variety of programs

Alcohol and drug addiction are diseases that progress through predictable stages. It takes a trained health professional, often a doctor specializing in addiction medication, to make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe the most appropriate treatment, whether it be outpatient counseling or an inpatient alchol and drug rehab. A drug rehab treatment center should offer a variety of treatment programs to choose from that meet individual needs. Programs may include inpatient, residential, outpatient, and/or short-stay options. The difference between inpatient and a residential treatment center is that inpatient services are provided by a licensed hospital, while residential programs usually do not meet the same rigorous standards of medical care. The length of stay depends on the severity and stage of the disease as the process of a drug detox programs would need a certain amount of time depending on how much drugs the addict has taken.

The importance of knowing which drugs are taken

It makes the process easier for the doctors or trained health professionals to give an accurate diagnose for the patient if the drugs taken by the drug addict is known whether it is heroin, meth abuse, alcohol abuse, cocaine abuse, marijuana abuse or alcohol. This makes it easier for the family to search for an appropriate drug rehab center and programme.

The cost of a drug rehab center

“How much does it cost?” is often one of the first few questions asked when someone calls a drug rehab program. The price is of course based on which program you choose whether it is outpatient or inpatient. There are a lot of things that needs to be taken into consideration such as what will be included and what will be added into the program you choose and what you pay for. Another service a lot of people would like to know is if your health insurance will cover this service. The best way to find out the range of costs for rehab is to talk to an intake advisor. You can discuss your insurance coverage or your financial concerns and they will help you narrow down your choices to what best meets your needs in the most affordable way.

Family involvement in a drug rehab program

Drug abuse and alcoholism affects the entire family, not just the alcoholic/addict. Most often family members do not realize how deeply they have been affected by chemical dependency.

Family involvement is an important component of recovery for the addict. This is why family therapy is important at this crucial time. Family members should be patient and supportive towards the addict. And to be able to be tolerant and treat the addict normal and with much love, one has to know how to deal with their own emotions as addicts or alcoholics may be abusive with words or with actions.

Having said the above, it is not easy to learn how to control these emotions as we are just human. But with enough patience, it will help the addict to slowly gain confidence and soon be on the road to a healthy recovery.
Drug Rehabs vary in the degree and quality of family involvement opportunities. Some offer just a few lectures and others offer family therapy. Do take the time to look for one suitable for your family.

Drug rehabilitation and the quality continuing care program

There are definitely no quick fixes for the diseases of drug abuse and alcoholism. Recovery is an ongoing process. The skills one learns during intensive rehabilitation treatment must be integrated into everyday life and this takes time. Then again, this will vary from individual to individual. Some drug addiction treatment programs will offer a follow-up program but only in one location which may make it difficult to use. It would be easier for families to search for a drug rehab closer to home whether it is a youth rehabilitation center, cheap drug rehabilitation center or a religious one like a christian drug rehab center.

Drug rehabilitation treatment programs should include a quality, continuing care program that supports and monitors recovery. The decision to enter a drug rehab program can be a very difficult and painstaking process.

Laser eye surgery for laser vision correction, such as lasik, custom lasik, PRK, lasek, epi-lasik and other specialized lasik eye surgery procedures offer those who have nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism and in need of vision correction. This gives people the opportunity of freedom from the fuss of wearing glasses and contact lenses.

The cornea is a transparent tissue that wraps in the front of the eye. The cornea is a part of the eye which helps you to focus. The aim of this Lasik eye surgery is to restore normal eyesight and in the course of this surgery, a computer controlled excimer laser is used to remove microscopic amounts of tissue from the cornea.

Lasik Eye Surgery

Lasik has its many benefitss. In this surgery, a small flap in the cornea of the eye is cut and peeled back to expose the underlying tissue of the cornea. This underlying tissue is then reshaped by using an excimer laser. This allows light to be more properly corrected onto the eye’s retina where images are more clearly defined. After this reshaping is finished, the peeled flap is placed back to its original place. All in all, this surgery is performed in a very short time, as little as in 10 minutes.

Lasek Eye Surgery

As for lasek eye surgery, this is more for people with flatter, thinner corneas. This surgery was developed to reduce the possibility of complications that occur when the flap created during Lasik does not have the ideal thickness or diameter. During lasek, the outer layer of the cornea is cut and lifted of the edge of the epithelial flap and is gently folded back out of the way. Then the excimer laser is used to shape the cornial tissue underneath. After that procedure, the epithelial flap is placed back onto the eye with a kind of spatula. The lasek eye surgery recovery is slower than Lasik recovery, but then again said this, it can vary from person to person.

Precautions before the Procedure

Still, not everybody is a good candidate for lasik eye surgery; a reliable laser eye correction center will always pre-screen their patients first. Doctors are very particular about pre-screening their patients and these include a few points. Patient should be of at least 20 years old before they consider to go through with laser eye surgery. Even said so, the patient would have to be free from diabetes, uncontrolled rheumatic conditions as well as any disease of the immune system. Therefore, it is important to consider an experienced and skilled refractive surgeon for advice.

I am sure you would have heard or read the horror stories associated with lasik eye surgery but the truth is many people have a successful rate of recovery from laser eye surgery and enjoy a pleasant experience before, during and after surgery. But it is definitely common for most people to experience a small amount of pain or minor discomfort after laser eye surgery during recuperation period.

Subsequently, it has found an extensively use as the type of laser that made possible the popular lasik eye surgery, by eliminating the need to wear glasses or contact lenses in many cases requiring vision correction. People are now realizing that they no longer need to go through the inconvenience of wearing glasses and contact lenses which are difficult to deal with when it comes to work, allergies and sports.

Reasons why lasik or lasek may be considered

Not everyone can wear contact lenses and at the same time would prefer not to wear glasses for cosmetic reasons.

Some work or activities do not encourage glasses and contact lenses are uncomfortable.

The inconvenience of wearing contact lenses and care required are a hassle.

Do carefully weigh the risk and benefits of undergoing lasik or lasek eye surgery based on your own personal value. Do not get influenced by friends and family who have had this procedure as it varies from person to person. Patients need to fully understand and seek proper and professional advice from doctors who are more experienced as issues and complications may arise.

Cost of Lasik Eye Surgery

The cost of laser eye surgery varies widely depending on the which area of the country or country in which Lasik or Lasek is performed. It also depends on the level of experience and skills a surgeon possesses, the latest technology utilized during the surgery, and the degree of your refractive error. However, it is important to remember that you should not base your choice of a laser eye surgery entirely on the cost of Lasik or Lasek eye surgery as a less skilled specialist may possibly charge you with a lower eye surgery price, but he or she may not have the same qualifications, experience, training, or latest equipment as a more expensive doctor would have.

Dog training is the method of training a dog to carry out certain actions in response to certain instructions in which the dog is trained to understand. Many who now owns a puppy or dog would eventually want to train them to the desirable behaviors that suit around the house and to other family members. Dogs do not figure out basic obedience on their own, they must be trained.
The most difficult part of training a dog is communicating with the dog in a humane way that he understands. The underlying principle of all communication is simple: reward desired behavior while ignoring or correcting undesired behavior.

The usual basic pet obedience training consists of 6 behaviors:

Sit

Down

Stay

Recall (”come”, “here” or “in”)

Close (or loose-leash walking)

Heel

As puppies, many often like to jump on people. This is often seen as a cute action when they are puppies but this behavior is not encouraged by many families as it can start to become annoying and even dangerous when they are older, larger and heavier. A large dog jumping on people can be dangerous especially to young children and even to some adults and elderly people. The best time to train a puppy from jumping is when the puppy is still small and easy to handle. When the puppy jumps up on you or someone else, gently place the puppy’s feet back on the floor. When the dog remains standing there, be sure to praise it extensively.

Consistency is very important in training a puppy. When teaching a puppy not to jump on people, action must be taken every time it jumps. Another problem that you definitely want to nip in the bud is this one. It is important that the puppy learn to respect the collar and leash now, when he is still small and light enough to handle. Teaching this lesson to a 10 pound puppy will be much easier than teaching the same lesson to a 150 pound dog.

Using a good strong body harness or head collar can be a big help when training a puppy not to pull, or to retrain a dog that has already learned to pull on the leash. When first fitting a harness, it is important to allow the puppy to walk around wearing it, so that he can get used to wearing it. The first thing that your puppy must learn, and the basis of all subsequent training, is teaching your dog to heel. Teaching your dog to walk quietly at your side on a loose lead is the basis of all dog training, and until your puppy has mastered this vital skill he will be unable to move onto more advanced training.

When walking with a puppy on a leash, it is important to always keep slack in the leash. If the puppy begins to pull on the leash, the handler should quickly change directions. The puppy will then find itself lagging behind instead of forging ahead. The least will be loose except for the split second it takes to change directions. It is important for the handler to use a quick tug of the leash, followed by an immediate loosening, when teaching this lesson. When teaching the puppy to walk properly, it is important to never allow the puppy to pull you around, or to forge ahead on the leash. Allowing the puppy to pull you around will teach him exactly the wrong lesson.

Always make sure that when training your dog, use positive reinforces like food treats in which rewarding a dog when he or she has done the right thing will lead them to repeating a trick or desired behavior for a treat. Last but not least have fun with your pet dog.

If you possess your own car, your most likely to know a little about car insurance. Its primary use is to provide protection against losses incurred as a result of traffic accidents and against liability that could be incurred in an accident. In many jurisdictions it is compulsory to have vehicle insurance before using or keeping a motor vehicle on public roads. Most jurisdictions relate insurance to both the car and the driver, however the degree of each varies greatly.

Depending on the jurisdiction, the insurance premium can be either mandated by the government or determined by the insurance company in accordance to a framework of regulations set by the government. Often, the insurer will have more freedom to set the price on physical damage coverages than on mandatory liability coverages. When the premium is not mandated by the government, it is usually derived from the calculations of an actuary based on statistical data. The premium can vary depending on many factors that are believed to have an impact on the expected cost of future claims. Those factors can include the car characteristics, the coverage selected (deductible, limit, covered perils), the profile of the driver (age, gender, driving history) and the usage of the car (commute to work or not, predicted annual distance driven).

Prior to purchasing auto insurance, you need to consider a variety of factors in which includes your driving record, what car you are considering to buy and the sum of money you are prepared to pay. You would need to understand the simple basics of auto insurance in which will make you much more confident to choose the car insurance policy that is able to take care of your needs in the event of an accident. You might have heard of the term deductible or premium. But, do you really know the different parts of an auto insurance policy and are you able to identify the best coverage?

Types of Coverage

When you buy a new car, you need to buy insurance. When you buy car insurance, you are buying what is called a policy. Your policy is based on a range of factors including what kind of car you drive and what kind of insurance you want to buy. Auto insurance policies are a package of different types of insurance coverage. You would then need to consider the most affordable car insurance.

First, you need to understand an auto insurance policy is to learn the different types of coverage insurance companies offer. Some of this coverage may be required by your state or country and some of the coverage may be optional. It would be easier to go to a car insurance agency and get them to explain the different types of plans for car insurance together with a car insurance quote.

Liability - This coverage pays for accidental bodily injury and property damages to others. Injury damages include medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages. Property damage includes damaged property and automobiles. This coverage also pays defense and court costs. State laws determine how much liability coverage you must purchase, but you can always get more coverage than your state requires.

Collision covers your car repair in case of a car accident when you are liable for the accident.

Comprehensive - This coverage pays to replace of fix your car in case of an accident caused by third party or “act of god” in which are caused by fire, wind, hail, flood, vandalism or theft.

Medical Coverage - Pays medical expenses regardless of fault when the expenses are caused by an auto accident.

PIP - Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is required in some states. This coverage pays medical expenses for the insured driver, regardless of fault, for treatment due to an auto accident.

Uninsured Motorist – This pays your car’s damages when an auto accident is caused by a driver who doesn’t have liability insurance.

Underinsured Motorist – This pays your car’s damages when an auto accident is caused by someone who has insufficient liability insurance.

Rental Reimbursement - This type of coverage pays for a rental car if your car is damaged and needs fixing due to an auto accident. This coverage often has a fixed rate for daily rentals.

The desire to remove unwanted hair from the body exists in both men and women, but it is usually women who wish to remove the most hair from their bodies, causing them to seek the easiest and longest lasting method of hair removal. Shaving, the most traditional method of hair removal, is often an annoyance because the unwanted hair returns very quickly. The razor can also be unkind to hard to reach places like the underarms. The commercial market has responded to the desire for easier methods of hair removal by coming up with many alternatives to shaving. Whether it is hair on the face, armpits, legs, bikini line, or other body parts, many women and men intent upon having the hair on their scalp to be the only visible hair on their bodies. With the emphasis on smooth, hairless skin, it is interesting to note that excess hair, especially in women, is still a taboo subject.

There are many options available to remove unwanted hair, but only a few options are able to get rid of hair permanently. Each person should chose a method or combination of methods that works best for them depending on cost, time available, skin type, and the desired hair-free area. Understanding how hair grows helps us to understand how to keep hair from growing. Each hair is contained in a pilosebaceous unit, which consists of a hair shaft, hair follicle, sebaceous gland, and erector pili muscle. Hair growth and shedding is a continuous cycle through 3 phases. The anagen phase is the growth phase, the catagen phase is a transitional state, and the telogen phase is the resting phase. Hairs spend a variable amount of time in each phase determined by genetics, hormones, and area of the body. Hair in the anagen phase is more susceptible to injury than hair in the telogen phase. All of these factors must be considered when choosing a method of hair removal.

Depilation

Depilatories, which are creams or lotions, are one method of hair removal that can be much easier than shaving. Depilatories include chemicals such as thioglycolic acid that work to dissolve the hair at the skin’s surface. Unless a person has very sensitive skin, this method of hair removal has an advantage over shaving because it does not irritate the skin or risk cuts as a razor does. Hair removal with depilatories lasts as long as shaving, from one to four days, before the hair grows back.

Waxing

Waxing has a longer lasting effect than shaving or depilatories, because it removes the hair at the base of the hair follicle rather than at the skin’s surface. This method of hair removal lasts about four to eight weeks before hair grows back and the process needs to be repeated. Waxing also leaves the skin softer, and hair re-growth is usually finer. Hair removal waxes can be performed at home or at a spa and are available in many varieties. Waxes may be designed to be applied hot, warm or cold, or by using pre-waxed paper strips.

Sugar Waxing

Sugar waxing is a popular form of hair removal that works in the same way as traditional waxing does. A thick sugary substance similar to caramel is spread on the skin in the direction of hair growth. The hair becomes embedded in the caramel. A cloth or paper strip is patted onto the caramel and then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth, pulling the hairs out of the follicles. The advantage of this method over traditional waxing is the clean up. The sugar substance is water-soluble and can be removed easier than wax by rinsing with water.

Electrology

Electrolysis is a hair removal technique that is touted as permanent. Using a specially charged needle, electrolysis exposes the hair follicles to an electric current that kills the hair producing cell. This method of hair removal is not always permanent because new hair producing cells are sometimes created to replace the dead follicle.

Intense Pulsed Light

Laser hair removal is the most permanently effective method of hair removal, although it tends to be very expensive. This procedure is performed by either a physician or a salon that is licensed to use the laser instrument. The procedure uses a laser beam that permanently damages the hair follicle, resulting in permanent hair removal.

Hair Removal with Shaving

Shaving is the most temporary method of hair removal because it merely cuts the hair off at the skin surface. Shaving does not make the hair shaft thicker, darker, or grow faster or slower. However, the short hair shaft may be more noticeable as it grows out because it has a blunt tip instead of the normal tapered tip. Shaving should be done after applying some type of moisturizer to the skin to help the razor glide over the skin, not cut or scrape it. Common moisturizers include water, shaving cream, hair conditioner, or body wash.

Epilation

Epilation is removal of the entire hair, including the part below the skin, and is therefore longer-lasting. Methods include waxing, sugaring, epilation devices, lasers, threading, intense pulsed light or electrology. Hair is also sometimes removed by plucking with tweezers.

Advantages and disadvantages of hair removal methods

There are several disadvantages to many of these hair removal methods. Many are not permanent, can cause medical problems, or have very high costs. Some of these methods are still in the testing phase and their methods have not been clinically proven. One should seek the advice of a doctor-supervised facility when choosing these hair removal methods. One issue, that can be considered an advantage or a disadvantage depends upon an individual’s viewpoint, is that removing hair has the effect of removing information about the individual’s hair growth patterns due to genetic predisposition, illness, androgen levels (such as from pubertal hormonal imbalances or drug side effects), and or gender status.

Malignant mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer in which the cancer (malignant) cells are found in the sac lining of the chest (the pleura), the lining of the abdominal cavity (the peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (the pericardium). It can also be single handedly pointed to the exposure of asbestos as the cause. Mesothelioma is a cancer that is particularly difficult for doctors to diagnose and one that usually does not respond well to therapy.

Mesothelioma’s Cause - Asbestos Exposure

At some point in our lives, nearly all of us are exposed to asbestos via the air we breathe and the water that we drink. This can be from natural deposits in the earth and from the deterioration of asbestos products around us. Most of us, however, will not become ill as a result of the exposure. Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in various ways. Washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos can also put a person at risk for developing mesothelioma. Unlike lung cancer, there is no association between mesothelioma and smoking, but smoking greatly increases the risk of other asbestos induced cancer.

As early as the late 1800’s asbestos was used commercially in North America, but it’s use increased dramatically during the World War II era when shipyards produced massive numbers of ships for the war effort. Since then asbestos containing products were used by the construction, building, automotive and manufacturing industries. For more than 50 years, products containing asbestos remained unregulated, and the manufacturer of those products continued to produce, knowing full well that many of the millions of workers who came into contact with their products would ultimately suffer from it’s exposure. Finally, in the late 1970s, the Consumer Products Safety Commission banned the use of asbestos in wallboard patching compounds and artificial ash for gas fireplaces because the fiber could easily be released during it’s use. Then in 1989, the Environmental Protection Agency banned all new use of asbestos, but uses established prior to that time were still allowed. Although awareness of the dangers of asbestos and public concern over the issue have led to a decline in domestic consumption over the years, a total ban on asbestos has not come to completion. Asbestos are still being imported, used and are still dangerous to the very people that are exposed to it.

Types of Mesothelioma

Pleural Mesothelioma
Pleural disease is often seen in people who have been exposed to high levels of asbestos while on the job. It usually takes 10 years or more for changes to appear that are indicative of pleural disease which affects the thin membrane layer in the chest. These differences can include a thickening or calcification of the pleural lining and is usually diagnosed as pleural plaques, pleural thickening and pleural calcification. In most cases, pleural disease is not considered fatal but it does have the ability to impair the lung function and the individual could be at a higher risk of developing more severe asbestos cancer.

Pericardial Mesothelioma
Malignant pericardial mesothelioma is a type of cancer that originates in the mesothelium, a thin wall of cells that surround the body’s organs and internal body structures. Pericardial mesothelioma originates in the lining of the heart. Pericardial mesothelioma is known to be caused by exposure to asbestos. While the precise route by which microscopic asbestos fibers reaches the pericardial lining is not known, physicians surmise that inhaled asbestos fibers are absorbed into the bloodstream and become entangled in the heart’s lining as the blood processes through the heart. Mesothelioma occurring in other parts of the body, such as in the pleura or peritoneum, can also metastasize to the pericardial lining. Pericardial mesothelioma is the rarest of these malignancies and accounts for only an estimated 10% of all mesothelioma incidences annually.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the thin cell walls which surround the abdominal cavity, known as the peritoneum. Peritoneal mesothelioma is the second rarest form of the disease and accounts for approximately 20% of all mesothelioma cases each year. Peritoneal mesothelioma is known only to be caused by exposure to asbestos said to reach the abdominal wall by one of two methods. The first is through ingested asbestos fibers which are processed through digestion and become lodged in peritoneum. These other method is through the lungs and lymph nodes, by inhaled asbestos fibers.

Signs and Symptoms of Mesothelioma

The early symptoms of mesothelioma are generally non-specific, and may lead to a delay in diagnosis. Sometimes resembling viral pneumonia, pleural mesothelioma patients may present with shortness of breath, chest pain and/or persistent cough and some patients show no symptoms at all. A chest x-ray may show a build-up of fluid or pleural effusion. For most symptoms of mesothelioma it may not appear until 20 to 50 years after exposure to asbestos, hence it is very silent and deadly, making it more difficult to diagnose.

Common Symptoms Caused By Mesothelioma :-

chest wall pain

pleural effusion, or fluid surrounding the lung

shortness of breath

fatigue or anemia

wheezing, hoarseness, or cough

blood in the sputum (fluid) coughed up

abdominal pain

problems with bowel function

weight loss

low blood sugar level

PLEASE BEAR MIND THAT THESE SYMPTOMS MAY BE CAUSED BY MESOTHELIOMA OR BY OTHER LESS SERIOUS CONDITIONS. ONLY A DOCTOR CAN MAKE A CONCLUSIVE DIAGNOSIS.

Mesothelioma Treatment Options

Treatment for mesothelioma depends on many factors, including: the stage of the cancer, where the cancer is, how far the cancer has spread, how the cancer cells look under the microscope and the patient’s age and desires.
Choice of treatment for patients with malignant mesothelioma:-

Surgery (taking out the cancer)

Chemotherapy (using drugs to fight the cancer)

Radiation Therapy (using high-dose x-rays or other high-energy rays to kill cancer cells)

Legal Matters

If you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma it is important that you preserve your legal rights. Don’t let time prevent you from taking legal action. Every state establishes set time-frames for filing lawsuits for an asbestos related injury. These time-frames are also known as the state statutes of limitation. The deadlines established in the statutes are fixed so it is important to consult with a legal professional soon after the onset of an asbestos related illness to determine what, if any action may be appropriate.

The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows approximately one centimeter (less than half an inch) per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time. About 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.

Common causes of excessive hair loss

A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

Hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.
In addition, hair loss can also be caused by:-

Situations of stress – many women lose hair after giving birth while both genders can experience hair loss after surgery or after a particularly stressful situation. This loss is also related to hormones. In medical terms, this cause of hair loss is called telogen effluvium and is temporary. While patients can lose up to 30% of their hair, it would usually also grow back once the body and its systems recover. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Condition of the scalp – fungal infections of the scalp or hair root can lead to hair loss. So can psoriasis of the scalp. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Autoimmune suppression – known as alopecia areata, hair loss here is due to a reaction of the immune system which suppresses the growth stage of the hair follicle. Alopecia areata causes hair to fall in patches and can sometimes affect the whole body including facial hair like eyebrows and even pubic hair.

Existing medical conditions – people who suffer from thyroid disease or iron deficiency can also experience hair loss as a result of the effect the diseases have on the body. Internal fungal infections such as syphilis can also cause hair loss. Some medicines can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants.

What can your doctor do for you

Medical science has made significant strides in recent years to get to the root of the problem and there are now a number of effective treatment options available to help those suffering from hair loss. A common misconception in hair loss is that there is no cure. This myth is particularly misguided because the fact is that there are approved, medically proven ways to treat the condition, depending on what causes hair to fall out in the first place.

For instance, if you discover that your hair loss is due to a fungal infection of the scalp, then appropriate medication can be prescribed to kill the invading fungi and restore the health and function of the scalp.

If, in a similar vein, your hair loss is caused by thyroid disease or anaemia, then treating the disease will also treat the hair loss. If you find that it is telogen effluvium that is causing your hair loss, then you can only be patient because the hair will grow back once the stress period is over. Where hair loss is caused by MPHL, which is most likely the case (it being the commonest cause for loss of hair), drugs such as the oral treatment finasteride have been an effective treatment for the condition. This drug has been scientifically proven in studies to tackle the very root of MPHL and inhibit the disruptive action of DHT in the hair follicle.

The conclusion is obvious. The key to effectively treating hair loss lies in a proper and accurate diagnosis of the cause of the problem which should only be carried out by a trained medical professional like your family doctor or a dermatologist (physicians who specialize in treating diseases of the skin, nails and hair). A mis diagnosis can, at worse, exacerbate the problem, or, at the very least, take you on a frustrating goose chase.
A doctor will evaluate a patient’s hair problem by asking questions about diet, medications including vitamins and health food taken in the last six months, family history of hair loss, recent illness, and hair care habits. Hormonal effects may be evaluated in women by asking about menstrual cycles, pregnancies, and menopause.
After examining the scalp and hair, your doctor may check a few hairs under the microscope. Sometimes blood tests or a scalp biopsy may be required for an accurate diagnosis. It’s important to find the cause and whether or not the problem will respond to medical treatment.

What is common baldness?

The term “common baldness” usually means male-pattern baldness, or permanent-pattern baldness. Male-pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men. Men who have this type of hair loss usually have inherited the trait. Men who start losing their hair at an early age tend to develop more extensive baldness. In male-pattern baldness, hair loss typically results in a receding hair line and baldness on the top of the head. Women may develop female-pattern baldness. In this form of hair loss, the hair can become thin over the entire scalp.

Treatment for hair loss

Depending on your type of hair loss, treatments are available. If a medicine is causing your hair loss, your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medicine. Recognizing and treating an infection may help stop the hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss.

Medicines may also help slow or prevent the development of common baldness. One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. It is applied to the scalp. Both men and women can use it. Another medicine, finasteride (brand name: Propecia) is available with a prescription. It comes in pills and is only for men. It may take up to 6 months before you can tell if one of these medicines is working.

If adequate treatment is not available for your type of hair loss, you may consider trying different hairstyles or wigs, hairpieces, hair weaves or artificial hair replacement.

The laptop computer today is fast replacing the traditional desktop as it is becoming more economical to purchase. Buyers will be spoil for choices as thin, light and ultra portable laptop computers are everywhere on the market today. How does the bewildered buyer make an appropriate choice? Well most start off by reading opinions and laptop or notebook reviews that are easily available on the web. Some would choose to rely on personal recommendations from colleagues, family and friends.

Portability, processor type (AMD Turion, Intel Core 2 Duo, Celeron etc), brand (Acer, Compaq, HP, Mac, Levono, Asus, Toshiba, Dell), operating system (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, Mac OS X), the storage capacity of the hard drive are important factors to consider. Also screen size, battery life, color, pricing and wireless connectivity are things to look out for when searching for the best laptop computer.

Finding cheap laptops are easy , but it’s also easy to get lost in the huge variety that’s available when you shop online. Today you can get a low-cost laptop in various sizes, from the ultra portable Asus EEE PC and similar Net book models, up to 17-inch or even larger desktop replacement laptops. But keep in mind that you nearly always trade off size for performance, especially if your in a tight budget segment.

Buyers should also ask what kind of laptop user are you ? Are you a gamer, business user, ultraportable, student, home user, etc. By answering these questions it will help you to streamline your search and eventually landing you the right choice of laptop computer that is the most suitable for you.

Gamer

The single most important requirement in a gaming laptop is the dedicated graphics card and it needs to be a powerful one. Because of the heat they generate, you would normally only find these in 15 or 17-inch laptops. Laptops dedicated to gaming are very powerful and tend to drain the battery fast and tend to be pricey.

Business User

If your work only involves basic office tasks, such as editing spreadsheets and checking your emails, then you wouldn’t need a super fast laptop with the latest graphics card. Its important that the laptops have a solid and durable build quality and that the manufacturer provides the right technical support.

Ultraportable

What defines an ultraportable laptop is of course its size and weight; the screen should be no larger than 13.3 inches and should weigh not more than four pounds. Thin-and-light laptops are usually not as powerful as larger ones because of the cramped space and limited cooling options. However, if you travel a lot or you tend to take your laptop to cafes just for some light web surfing to pass your time then the netbook would be your ideal choice, typical example is the affordable Asus EEE PC.

Student

A tight budget doesn’t rule out getting a laptop anymore. Previously you had to pay twice as much for a laptop as with similar specifications equipped on a desktop PC, but all of that has changed. You could still get a good deal with a desktop, but it’s not half as convenient. Laptop computers are easy to move around between lectures, library, study groups, etc. They handle basic tasks like web surfing and word processing which is what the students typically use.

Home User

Home users usually use their computer for all kinds of tasks - surfing the web, paying the bills, writing a few emails, ripping CDs, downloading MP3 & movies, playing casual games, or connecting it to a TV to watch some favorite downloaded sitcom . You will probably need a versatile laptop with plenty of hard drive space, a reasonably fast processor and a fair amount of RAM and if your into gaming then a dedicated graphics card might be a wise choice to be included as well.
